HDFC Bank is the 5th largest bank in India in terms of asset value and the largest bank in terms of Market capitalization. The bank was founded in 1994 by India’s largest Housing finance company Housing Development Finance Corporation. In 2001 HDFC merged with Times Bank and in 2008 acquired Centurion Bank of Punjab. As of 2013, the bank has over 28.7 million customer accounts and the total credit cards issued by the bank which were valid were over 5.94 million. Apart from offering Personal banking the Bank also offers other services through its subsidiaries including NRI Banking, SME Banking and wholesale banking.
HDFC Bank Bill Pay Options
There are multiple domains in which HDFC Bank operates and hence the bill payments depend on whether you want to pay Credit Card Bills or bills of other organizations through Net Banking or ATM.
HDFC Credit Card Bill Payment: If you are an HDFC bank Credit Card holder, you can pay your credit card bills through – Cash Deposit, Net Banking Transfer, and Drop Box.
Cash Deposit – You can pay the bills of your HDFC Credit card by depositing the bill amount at any of HDFC bank branches in your Credit Card Account.
Net Banking Transfer – You can use HDFC Net Banking or Net banking of other banks to pay the bills by transferring the amount from your bank account to your credit Card account.
Drop Box – Customers can pay their Credit card bill by dropping their checks in any of HDFC’s Drop box, which are available at the ATM’S of the company.
Bill Pay through Net Banking: HDFC Account holders can pay their utility bills including electric bills, mobile bills, water bills, gas bills, Landline bills, Insurance Premiums by using the Net Banking Facility. HDFC net banking shows consolidated bills of all the billers on a customer’s net banking account, which can be paid instantaneously. Customers get real time SMS Alerts for bill presentments, payments etc. and access to over 200 billers across categories.
For paying Bills through Net Banking a customer must first Log in to his / her HDFC net banking account and choose the ‘bill payments’ option mentioned on top of the account.
On the ‘Bill payment’ page customers will first have to choose the state of the billers and then from the drop-down menu select the biller. After choosing the biller , customers must fill I the required details and enter the amount of the bill, after confirming their choice customers need to click ‘Confirm’ and their bills would be instantaneously be paid.
Bill Payment through ATM: All HDFC bank customers get a debit card from the bank, which can be used to pay bills at any of the bank’s ATM. After entering your debit card at an ATM, enter your PIN and select the ‘bill payment’ option, choose the biller from a list of biller and enter the amount you want to pay along with your account number with the biller, you will need to confirm your choices by clicking the ‘confirm’ button after which the amount would be debited from your account and credited to biller’s account.
