The banking company was founded in 1690 as Goldsmith banking business and James Barclay became a partner of the business in 1736. Barclays was the first bank, which installed an Automatic Teller Machine in the year 1967. It is the 22nd largest domestic company listed on the London Stock Exchange. Apart from providing retail banking services, Barclays also provides investment banking, as wealth management, mortgage lending and credit cards.

BarclayCard Bill Payment Options

Customers can pay bills of over 300 pre-approved beneficiaries by using the online banking facility provided by Barclays Bank. The pre-approved beneficiaries include gas and electric utility companies, Credit Cards, Local Councils and building societies.

BarclayCard Bill Payment

The bills can be paid in three ways:

  •    Bill payment for the first time to a Beneficiary
  •    Bill payment to already paid beneficiary
  •    Bill payment to registered beneficiary with new reference

Bill Payments for the first time to a beneficiary

You can Log into you Barclays Online banking account with your Passcode to see a list of pre-approved beneficiaries. On the ‘At a glance’ screen you can select ‘Pay a bill’. If you are having two or more accounts with Barclays, you will need to select the account for paying the bill from a drop down menu. You can select the beneficiary by searching for the organization name; select the relevant option from your search results or add a new beneficiary. You will be required to enter the payment reference details, the amount needed to be paid and the time of your payments – whether instantly or on a specific date. After clicking ‘continue’, you will be asked to check the details you have entered. If changes need to be made click the ‘change’ button or else click ‘confirm’. If your transaction is successful, it will be displayed along with a reference no.

Bill payment to already paid Beneficiary

Log in to your online banking account and select ‘Pay a bill or someone’ option. If you have two or more accounts with Barclays, select the account you wish to pay the bill from. Choose ‘Pay a Bill/someone I’ve paid before’ option and select the payment details. Choose a beneficiary from the drop down list, the reference and the amount you need to pay. You can select the time when the payments need to be paid, whether immediately or on a specific date. Check the details after you have entered the details, select ‘change’ if anything needs to be changed or click ‘confirm’. If the transaction is successful, you will receive a confirmation.

Bill payment to registered beneficiary with New Reference

Customers can sign in to their Barclays online banking account and select ‘Pay a bill or someone’ option. You will be required to choose the account from which you need to send the payments and select the payment details. While selecting an already paid beneficiary, enter the new reference for payment and the amount. If something needs to be changed, click ‘change’ button or else click ‘confirm’. Successful transaction will be displayed on the screen.
